James 5:16

The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. ~James 5:16

Dictionary.com defines righteous as "characterized by uprightness or morality" and a slang usage as "absolutely genuine or wonderful."

James goes on to say in the next verse that "Elijah was a person just like us, and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and rain never came to the land for three years and six months." In Ezekiel 22:30-31, God tells us that:

I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one. "Thus I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; their way I have brought upon their heads," declares the Lord GOD.

And so we learn that prayer matters. I can pray and you can pray and it makes a difference. And so I want to pray righteous. That my prayer may availeth much.
